Sempre que possível serão mostrados neste blog alguns lugares que já estão em caminhos mais sustentáveis e inspirem soluções de equilíbrio do ambiente.

CES

CES é uma vila perdida no meio dos Alpes suíços. É difícil de acreditar que, no coração da Europa, ainda possa existir um lugar onde só se chega a pé, depois de duas horas de caminhada pesada. Chegando lá, o que se vê é um amontoado de casas de madeira e pedra (inclusive o telhado), uma pequena igreja e só. Esse singelo conjunto repousa sobre uma grama verde com florzinhas brancas, emoldurado pelas majestosas montanhas alpinas. As casas mais antigas remontam a 300 anos de idade. De uns anos para cá, a Fondazione per la Rinascita di Chiesso, cujo objetivo principal é revitalizar a vila, mantém um funcionário durante o verão, que cuida das hortas, de uma pequena loja que vende os produtos orgânicos, das casas dos visitantes e da manutenção geral.

Pode-se dizer que o CES ainda tem um bom caminho a percorrer para se tornar uma Ecovila. Hoje, somente um casal de fazendeiros vive lá permanentemente. Outros vêm e ficam lá somente durante uma temporada.

CES is a lost village in the middle of the Swiss Alps. It´s hard to believe that, in the heart of Europe, still could exist such a place that you can get only by foot, after two hours of heavy hiking. Once you get there, what you see is a bunch of houses made out of wood and rocks (including the roof), a little church and that´s it. This homely set lays upon a green field with white little flowers, framed by the majestic alps mountains. The oldest houses are up to 300 years. Recently, the Fondazione per la Rinascita di Chiesso, which main goal is to revitalize the village, keeps some employees during the summertime, taking care of the gardens, a little shop selling organic products, the guest houses and the general maintenance.

It´s right to say that if CES wants to become an Ecovillage, they still have a long way to go. Today, only a couple of farmers live permanently there. Other people come and stay just for a season or in the holidays.

Eco-soluções: muito em razão do isolamento, o CES teve que desenvolver seus próprios sistemas independentes de geração de energia e tratamento de esgoto. Eles tem algumas soluções criativas para diminuir a dependência de eletricidade, como um "forno solar" (uma espécie de estufa que esquenta os alimentos) e a "eco-geladeira", que usa água fria canalizada das nascentes do alto da montanha. Mesmo assim eles tem um sistema de placas solares e uma turbina que gera energia pela força da água. Problemas com esgoto são resolvidos com um sanitário seco, produzindo composto que depois é espalhado pelos campos. Para alimentação, há algumas hortas orgânicas, mas a produção ainda é insufciente para abastecer a vila.

Eco-solutions: mainly because it´s located in a remote area, CES had to develop it´s own independent systems of energy and sewage. They have some creative solutions to decrease their needs of electricity, like the solar owen (a kind of a glasshouse to warm up the food) and the “eco-fridge”, running on cold water from the springs up in the mountain. Anyway, they have a system of solar cells and a turbine that generates power through the power of the water. Problems with the sewage are solved with the dry toilet, producing compost spread later in the fields. For alimentation, they are running some organic gardens, but the production is not yet big enough to feed the village.

Para ir lá: para os interessados em passar um tempo lá, a vila está aberta no verão europeu. A Fundação mantém algumas casas, que podem ser alugadas na temporada. Outra alternativa é combinar de trocar seu trabalho por comida e acomodação. Neste caso, vá preparado para uma experiência dura mas gratificante: cultivar uma horta orgânica ou cortar madeira são algumas das opções.

To get there: For the ones interested in spend some time there, the village is open in the european Summer. The Foundation takes care of some houses that could be rent for the season. Other alternative is to exchange your work for food and accommodation. If you choose that, get ready for a hard working experience: organic gardening or chop wood are some of the options.

Línguas: o CES fica na região de Ticino, próxima à fronteira com o norte da Itália. Por isso, além do alemão suíço, o italiano também é muito falado. Se você não fala nenhuma dessas línguas pode ficar um pouco perdido nas conversas. O inglês também é falado mas ninguém faz muita questão de se comunicar nesse idioma.

Languages: CES is located on the Ticino canton, next to the Italian border. That´s why besides swiss german, the majority speaks Italian. If you don´t speak any of these languages you can get a bit lost. English is also spoken but not many people make efforts to speak it.
